Why You Should Choose the Aspens For Whistler Ski Accommodation
You work hard, and your Whistler ski vacation should be as relaxing and convenient as possible. The choice of where to stay in Whistler, however, is daunting. Yet for many, this choice is easily settled. The convenience, privacy, and quiet of the Aspens in Whistler make it a popular choice for a variety of vacationers.
What to Expect at the Aspens in Whistler
Each unit at the Aspens is self-contained, private, and right next to the slopes on Blackcomb Mountain. Cook your party a meal to start or end the day in a large, fully equipped kitchen and save a bundle on food expenses.
Outside, you will find three hot tubs, each with a different temperature, and a heated swimming pool. Fitness facilities, common laundry and internet access make this not just a fun place to stay, but practical as well. Conference facilities can also be booked if you're visiting more for business than for pleasure.
Where is the Aspens development?
Step out the front door and hit the trails in seconds. Ski or board to the ski lifts on Blackcomb Mountain and end the day skiing up to the front door. The location of the Aspens lets you enjoy your Whistler ski vacation without having to lug yours or your kids' gear to the slopes.
For the Aspens, "ski in/ski out" does not mean "out of the way." With a 10 minute walk or a five minute free shuttle ride, you will be at the base of Blackcomb. Another five minutes will bring you to the base of Whistler and the beginning of the pedestrian village. Blackcomb base includes all your vacation needs, featuring a variety of shops, restaurants, nightlife and a liquor store.
Prefer to avoid the Village? Located in the Upper Village, the Aspens is close to restaurants, cafes and pubs all geared to fit different vacation expectations and budgets.
How do I get around Whistler?
If you are driving to Whistler, parking at the Aspens is available but will cost you. At the time of publication, parking was charged at $12/night. For dinner parties or group get-togethers, there is also guest pay parking available.
Even though this development is not in the centre of Whistler Village, the epicentre of Whistler nightlife and action, a car is not necessary while staying at the Aspens. All the amenities you will need are only a 10 minute, down-hill walk to the Village (although caution is suggested when it comes to the late-night stumble up the hill).
A free shuttle is also available for transportation around Whistler. With the pick up point for the shuttle just steps away from the Aspens' front door, getting around Whistler is simple.
Travelling with a group?
Most condos in the Aspens are 1-2 bedroom units. However, this does not mean your group cannot stay there for your Whistler ski vacation. Consider booking multiple units, take turns cooking group dinners in each fully-equipped kitchen, and meet as a group around the 3 common hot tubs.
If you are having difficulty finding enough units for your group in the Aspens but want to stay in its convenient location, consider booking spill-over units in near-by developments. Choose from Greystone Lodge, Woodrun, and the Marquise for the closest developments to the Aspens. These developments all share the perks of the Aspens' convenient location, as well as their own unique common and private amenities.
The Bottom Line: Pros and Cons of Aspens for Whistler Ski Accommodation
The Aspens' location is not for every vacationer. For instance, there is little benefit of staying slopeside for summer Whistler vacations. In the winter, however, the Aspens occupies one of the most desirable locations in Whistler.
The Aspens is within walking distance to everything you'll want to do while on vacation in Whistler. If you prefer, the free Village shuttle services this area quite frequently as well. If a crisp walk through the mountain air or waiting a few minutes for the shuttle doesn't appeal to you, you may want to consider accommodations in the Village or Whistler Village North.
